Pharoah\'s horse
-Oil pastel on arches paper-

Instead of embracing the pieties and the parodies of the day, for the past 30 years my imagery has focused on the struggle and interaction between East and West from pre-Homeric antiquity up to the advent of the modern age. With the collapse of the modern era and its conceits, and faced with the therapeutic tyranny of mind that is the here and now, no task could be more urgent than to recover the force of the past; to recast the panorama of the degraded and the noble, the aspirant and the ferocious.

My work is within the alchemical tradition: a process of spiritual refinement, a progression of the mind and spirit to an imaginative recognition of the opposing polarities of life. These are passionate convictions that are not only reflected in my work but are at the hearth of the imagery.
